What Pinterest Does Best

Pinterest is my favorite platform for driving traffic, whether that’s to a blog post like this one or to product pages and email sign up forms. I’ve tried platforms like Instagram and TikTok and while they can be great for getting views and engagement, I felt like I was struggling with the effort required to really see growth on those platforms.

If you’re also tired of platforms that demand constant, daily engagement, this might be the shift you’ve been waiting for!

Pinterest doesn’t require daily platform activity, but it does reward consistency. As long as you're sharing useful, searchable content regularly (even repurposed), Pinterest will work smoothly in the background while you focus on your life or other creative work.

Why Most Creators Overlook PinterestPinterest has quietly remained one of the most powerful traffic platforms available because it’s often misunderstood or underestimated. Many creators dismiss Pinterest for one of the following reasons:

  • They assume it’s only for bloggers, recipes, or DIY content, but Pinterest has evolved into a go-to platform for digital products, lead magnets, and service-based offers.
  • They think you have to post tons per day to get results. In reality, even just a few intentional Pins per week can go further than daily posting on other platforms.
  • It feels too unfamiliar. Because it works differently than other social platforms (and doesn’t provide instant views), it’s often not taken seriously in social media circles, with many people skipping it entirely.

While there are certainly topics that do better on Pinterest than others, there's often ways to can tailor your content to be more Pinterest friendly. People from all sorts of backgrounds are searching for ideas rather than hyper-specific answers, making it a powerful platform for content discovery.

Reasons Why Pinterest is The Best Platform for Sustainable GrowthThough Pinterest may seem intimidating at first, it’s actually perfect for beginners. Learning how to target search queries, focus on benefits and solutions, and creating content that doesn’t completely die after a day or two will set you up for long-term success.
  • Pinterest is beginner-friendly. The algorithm is much easier to understand than other platforms and your success isn't dependent on how much you socialize with other content.
  • Pinterest is actually a search engine. This means that with the right optimization, your content can remain relevant long after you first post it. Many Pins have a recurring lifetime of 2 years or more.
  • Pinterest is all about ideas and discovery. Since it's search based, the people who find your Pins are more likely to engage with the content the Pin links to. Pinners are planners, so they're also likely to return to your content later on.
  • Pinterest users expect to visit links. Unlike Instagram, TikTok, and even Facebook, Pinterest is built for link sharing and users are accustomed to moving away from Pinterest to discover new ideas.
  • A blog or website isn't required. Having your own blog or website isn't necessary to benefit from Pinterest (though it does help). You can link to product pages, email sign up forms, other social media posts and even affiliate links.

Ways to Use Pinterest as a Creator or BusinessA lot of people think of Pinterest as just a mood board or planning tool, but it’s great for building an audience or marketing products and services too. Since you’re here, you’ve probably got some idea of what’s possible already and are looking to learn more.

Here are a few common uses for Pinterest that this hub will help you with:

  • Get traffic to your content or store. Pinterest is the leading source of traffic for many bloggers, and it’s also great for sending traffic to online shops as well. You can also cross-promote other social content (like Instagram posts or TikTok and YouTube videos) to increase your reach as well.
  • Grow your audience through email marketing. Free downloads are very popular on Pinterest and a great way to grow an audience of followers you can contact at anytime via email broadcasts. Maintaining an email list can boost blog views and of course helps when selling products (both digital and physical), so Pinterest is a great tool to get new sign ups to your list or start one if you haven’t already.
  • Make money with affiliate marketing. Your don’t have to limit promotion to only products you make or sell yourself. Pinterest allows direct linking to affiliate products, so as long as your affiliate platform allows it, you can share your links on Pinterest, too!
  • Find new clients. Whether you’re a business coach or an interior designer, Pinterest is great way to find new clients. People use Pinterest to discover new ideas or plan trips and events, so highlighting whatever services you provide is often beneficial.
